START YOUR “WORLD’S LONGEST YARD SALE” JOURNEY IN GADSDEN, AL!
GADSDEN, AL—July 17, 2023— Visit America’s most scenic shopping mall during the “World’s Longest Yard Sale” August 3-6, 2023, in Gadsden, AL! As featured in HGTV coverage, the journey begins in beautiful Gadsden, Alabama atop Lookout Mountain and spans more than 690 miles to Hudson, Michigan.
Conveniently located just 60 miles north of Birmingham on I-59, Gadsden’s unsurpassed beauty, southern hospitality, and quaintness make it the perfect base for a “funderful” shopping experience. Travel the scenic Lookout Mountain Parkway while experiencing “Yard Sale Bliss.”
Your journey begins at Noccalula Falls Park, where hundreds of vendors will set-up shop throughout the park. This could easily consume a whole day of shopping and a visit to the Park itself includes a miniature train ride, a botanical garden, the Pioneer Village, the Black Creek Trail System, and of course, the beautiful 90-foot tall Noccalula Falls!
After a full day of shopping, head to Historic Downtown Gadsden for First Friday on August 6th! Broad Street is closed to traffic and the ambiance of yesteryear comes to life with classic cars, food vendors, live entertainment on every block, and outdoor dining including pubs and breweries. At 9 pm on Friday, the Summer Concert Series is live at the Mort Glosser Amphitheater. The show is free, and cushions and coolers are welcome, no glass please.
The next leg of your journey would find you heading up the Lookout Mountain Parkway from Noccalula Falls Park towards Ft. Payne, but it will take a long time to get there as you pass miles of yard side sales in every yard, in parking lots, and at intersections.
Find everything from collectibles, antiques, dish wares, furniture, fresh farm and garden produce, to food vendors, live entertainment, and MORE! Along the Parkway, take in sights like waterfalls, canyons, rolling hills, farms, old general stores, and a glimpse of hang gliders in the distance.

2023 Alabama Welcome Center Retreat, Decatur and Morgan County, October 22-24
The Alabama Tourism Department’s Welcome Center Retreat allows the Alabama Tourism Industry the opportunity to showcase our communities to the devoted staff of the Alabama Welcome Centers. Each Center closes, so all employees participate in this educational and enlightening Retreat. Additionally, the Tourism Partner Trade Show gives the Welcome Center staff members the knowledge that each tourism industry partner shares with them during the trade show. The staff members then share this information with the on-the-road travelers who stop at each Center.
In 2022, the eight Welcome Centers hosted over one million travelers stopping for in-state travel advice! Hopefully, we will give them enough to share and entice their visitors to stop, see, and stay a little longer!
The Registration Fee is $175 for all industry partners, with or without participation in the Trade Show. This fee includes the Tourism Partner Trade Show and functions through Tuesday lunch. Each additional partner pays $175 as well. There will be no shared registration or badges. This fee goes up to $225 on October 1. There will be NO refunds after October 8, as we will have given all guarantees to our sponsors and the hotel by then.
